Why your antivirus may flag this app

Because the app writes to the system registry to change your HWID, some antivirus programs may flag or block it. This is a false positive — the app contains no malware. If your antivirus blocks the download or launch, allow the application or add it to the exceptions list.

If Windows blocks it

SmartScreen may flag a fresh build as «unrecognized» — that's normal for binaries without a commercial code-signing certificate. The file is safe (verify the SHA-256 above and feel free to scan on VirusTotal).

  1. On the «Windows protected your PC» dialog, click **More info**
  2. Then click **Run anyway**
  3. If the browser blocks the download: click the warning → «Keep» → «Keep anyway»

If Defender deleted the file: Virus & threat protection → Protection history → find HwidChanger → Restore

How-to

Using the app

5 steps from launch to a fresh HWID

  1. 01

    Launch the app

Windows will show the UAC prompt — click «Yes». Without administrator rights changing the HWID isn't possible.

  2. 02

    Note your UID

The top row of the window shows your unique UID in XXX-XXX-XXX format and the current changes balance. Click the UID to copy it — you'll need it for payments and support. You start with 3 free changes.

  3. 03

    Click «Change HWID»

A dialog opens with checkboxes — pick which identifiers to change (computer name, MAC addresses, disk serials, etc.) or keep all of them on. If you change MAC addresses, leave the «Restart adapters» checkbox enabled.

  4. 04

    Wait for it to finish

A progress bar at the bottom shows the current step. When you see «HWID changed» — done. Your balance drops by 1 (or stays ∞ if you have an active subscription).

  5. 05

    Restore any previous state

The «Restore» button opens a paginated list (10 per page) with a date filter. ORIGIN is your initial HWID before the first change — always pinned to the top. Click any row to roll the HWID back to that state.

Good to know

  • After changing MAC addresses or disk serials, a reboot is recommended — Windows occasionally shows old values until the next boot.
  • A subscription ($10 for 30 days or $50 for a year) gives unlimited changes. Without one, each change deducts 1 from your balance.
  • Restore is free and never deducts from your balance — roll back as many times as you want.
